U.S. home foreclosures declined in January

U.S. filings for home foreclosures were down 10% in January compared with the previous month, according to data provider RealtyTrac. The decline was largely the result of efforts by government agencies and lenders to reduce residential foreclosures, said James J. Saccacio, CEO of RealtyTrac. Another survey found that a majority of U.S. homeowners are predicting their homes will hold value or increase this year.
